Say WHAT?: A Member Forum on Hearing Loss


Half of us over 75 deal with some degree of hearing loss every day, but those who do not themselves experience hearing loss still must know how to navigate this invisible disability. Haven’t we all had difficulties trying to communicate with family or friends who are experiencing hearing loss?

For this next LWEW member conversation MJ Shultz has asked fellow members Virginia Costello, Roger Cox, and Susan Lester to share their unique experiences of living with hearing loss: what helps, what doesn’t, and how to facilitate understanding and connection. We’ll touch on tips to use in a variety of settings and interactions, ranging from your manner of speaking, to the way you arrange furniture or seating at the dinner table.

We will aim to highlight simple steps all of us can take to ease the frustrations and exhaustion felt by so many impacted by hearing loss. Registrants will receive a tip sheet compiled by MJ from her conversations with these members in preparation for this forum.
