Most of us take our balance control for granted until we start losing it. Join Kathy Joy and Cindy Sullivan for a discussion of how our balance control system works and common problems that can affect balance and equilibrium and increase our risk for falls and injury. Kathy and Cindy will also demonstrate techniques and exercises for maximizing balance and gait stability for people of all abilities.
Kathy Joy, PT, MBA has worked at the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary for the past 30 years with patients with inner ear, balance, and post-concussion disorders. She also trains physical therapists, medical students, residents and fellows at MEEI and through a variety of national conferences.
Cindy Sullivan is a Certified Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Instructor, and Senior Fitness Specialist providing in-person and virtual balance, strength, and endurance training for adults age 40 plus. She has been offering classes to Beacon Hill Village members since 2015!
