Dick Waters received his PhD in artificial intelligence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1978. For the next 13 years he worked at the MIT AI Lab as a Research
Scientist and co-principal investigator on the Programmer’s Apprentice Project. He was a founding member, of the Mitsubishi Electric Research Lab (MERL) in 1991. As a MERL researcher, his work centered on multi-user interactive environments for work, learning and play. He was made a MERL Fellow in 1996 for that work and is an ACM Distinguished Scientist. He was president of MERL from 1999 – 2023. Now as Chairman he continues to guide the organization.

Access: There are a few steps to enter the first floor of Parish House but it's possible to avoid these if needed. Please let us know. There is an elevator to access the presentation space on the second floor.
