Tell ‘Em What You Want: Why, How and When with Kate Sciacca, NP

Ever wonder what happens if you end up in the hospital without a health care proxy or advance directive? Kate Sciacca can tell you from her front-line experience and she can help you get your paperwork in order to make sure your wishes are known to family, friends, caregivers and providers.

Kate Sciacca is a Nurse Practitioner who has been volunteering at Beacon Hill Village for over seven years. She received her BS and MS in nursing from Northeastern University, went on to complete the Harvard Interprofessional Palliative Care Fellowship, and is now enrolled in an MBA program at UMass Boston. She works clinically at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute with as an NP on a team dedicated to providing palliative care to patients with kidney disease, is the co-medical director of an outpatient clinic, and the Director for Palliative Care nursing at Brigham and Women’s. She has collaborated with BHV to give lectures on both health and illness to our members on a wide range of topics and enjoys connecting with our community through small group teaching, believing that knowledge is power, and where you get health information matters.
